Course Overview
The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (IGC) is one of the leading health and safety qualifications around the world.  It helps develop your understanding of general workplace issues and how they can be applied in different sectors around the world. 

 

Course information
The new NEBOSH International Certificate focuses on the role of a real-life health and safety professional. It looks at the real, everyday risks that people encounter and how to manage them to help protect people and profits. 

You'll develop the essential risk management skills to create a safe and healthy workplace. And, you’ll have the foundation knowledge to make recommendations to your employer to help them improve health and safety management.

 

How is the new NEBOSH International Certificate assessed?

IG1 - The invigilated paper-based exam is being permanently replaced by a new open-book examination (OBE) ,for English language assessments only

IG2 - The practical unit IG2 will continue to be assessed as usual, please speak to your Learning Partner for further information.

It's aimed at people new to health and safety, including new Health and Safety Officers, Managers, Operational Managers and Directors. 

 

Professional Membership Recognition

  • The NEBOSH International Certificate meets the academic requirements for:
    • Technical membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH)
    • Associate Membership of the International Institute of Risk Management (AIIRSM)
    • Associate Membership of the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH)
    • Registered Safety Technician/Safety Professional status by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals  (CRST/CRSP)

Course Outline

Course entry requirements
You don't need any previous health and safety knowledge or experience to take the course. But you will need to have a good level of english to be able to understand complex concepts and discuss them in your exam.

 

What's covered in the new NEBOSH International Certificate?
The course takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international standards, such as the International Labour Organisation (ILO) codes of practice. 

 

It's divided into 2 units: 

IG1 - Management of health and safety
IG2 - Risk assessment
